Students showing chronic dysregulated behaviour are at higher risk of suspension — and, in turn, of drifting toward the school-to-prison pipeline. Our program, Supporting Chronically Dysregulated Students (SDS), is designed to reduce that behaviour while protecting the student's sense of belonging at school.
How SDS is different
Most trauma-informed training focuses on knowledge — ACEs, the biology of trauma, hypervigilance, and so on. By 2026, most teaching staff have already sat through training like that. So SDS goes further: it focuses on building actual skills and processes. We've distilled this down to 3 Core Skills, 3 Generic Processes, and 9 Core Processes that reliably predict whether a school achieves a genuinely trauma-informed culture.
The 80/80 Rule
Our benchmark for a trauma-informed school: 80% of teaching staff proficient in 80% of the Core Processes.
The program: Like all Attend+ programs, SDS runs over two days (12 contact hours) of blended online and in-person learning — backed up by on-the-job coaching, because proficiency doesn't stick without it.
