Parents and carers play a huge role in keeping a student at school. Most work willingly with the school — but a small number find it harder. We've developed two tailored approaches for the parents who tend to struggle most:
- The struggling parent — core belief: “The school will judge me as a bad parent.”
- The anti-school parent — core belief: “I can bully the school into getting my own way.”
What's a “working alliance”?
It's an agreement between school and parent(s) on two things: how to prevent the challenging behaviour in the first place, and how to manage it well when it does happen.
The program: Working With Challenging Parents (WCP) runs over 8 contact hours, blending online and in-person training.
